Vidi Max,

4A engines are made in Germany in this factory :
https://www.mdc-power.com/ 4A91 is known for terrible piston rings, they start to stick, and oil on them get burned. Which in turn leads to gaps and damaged piston skirts. Here is closeup on how those rings look like after 60/80T km :
http://s16.postimg.org/x16uks1kl/Remont_4_A91_40.jpg At that point engine starts to consume about 1l oil per 1000km. Iv seen on forums cases where people had to pour 4liters per 1000km and that is not a joke, at that point, only new engine would do. It is important to change or clean those rings when you start noticing that car is developing habit of asking for more oil than usual. Changing them on right time would eliminate that problem. 4A92 uses same piston rings, however it showed up in 2011 and that was the year they started to use modified piston rings to handle this problem ( Fact that manufacturer upgraded them shows how bad and often was that problem ) The old ones from 2004 - 2010 were MN195612 and 2010 - 2011 MN195848 , 2011+ modified oil rings have 1110C488 part number. Even they are although prone to sticking, but it does not happen to often. However !!!! 1.6 4A92 engines have another huge and specific only to them problem. Due to really high compression ratio at 11.0:1 ( as an comparison , 4B10 have 10.5:1 ) when ASXes came out, they suffered from premature detonation, engine knocking. Especially in countries like Russia, where there is not as good quality petrol. It was so bad, that dealers had to do their own ECU tune and dial back ignition timings. If an owner of 4B engine hears metallic knocking noise, it most likely means valve lifters, but if same noise shows on 4A92 engine, it is detonation. Basically for you to have a healthy engine is to often check oil consumption and changing or cleaning piston rings if necessary. Remember that ECU tuners make power by advancing ignition timings, but in your case that would be rather dangerous, unless you are using 98EU petrol.
